Tidus & Yuna, the couple

Tidus and Yuna's relationship isn't strong at the beginning of the game. It is only later, when Tidus starts to realize more about Yuna, that the relationship starts to bloom. Everything starts when Tidus meets Yuna after entering the Besaid Temple and heading down to the Chamber of Fayths. There, he meets Yuna as she emerges as the new summoner.

Together, with her guardians, Yuna and Tidus travell. First place is Kilika island. However, plans don't go to well. Sin attacks and Tidus realizes exactly what Yuna is doing and what it means for her to be a summoner. When arriving in Kilika, everything is destroyed. Tidus follows everyone and watches as Yuna performs "The Sending." It is here that he realizes what Yuna is doing, what she is trying to prevent. After receiving the aeon from Kilika temple, Tidus tries to do many things to make Yuna happy. One happens to be screaming to prove that nothing is wrong.

After leaving Kilika, it is there that Yuna believes in Tidus as she defends him. Some people do not believe anything that Tidus is saying. Yuna defends him for she believes in the Zanarkand he is talking about. Even at Luca, Tidus and Yuna try to enjoy their time. Tidus tells Yuna more about his Zanarkand and even tries to teach Yuna how to whistle. It soon becomes a special whistle between them.

Their bond continues to strengthen as the journey progresses. A small section happens when they stop at Rin's Travelling Agency during the crossing of Mi’ihen Highroad. Tidus and Yuna talk about everything that has been happening and why such things are forbidden. It strengthen their bonds for both are able to talk with each other in comfort.

Guadosalam is probably the third strongest section that shows how much Tidus and Yuna's relationship has changed. In Guadosalam, Yuna receives a proposal. This upsets Tidus. True, it doesn't make sense on why. However, he argues about her journey, about what she is doing, and if she loves Seymour, the one that proposes to her. After Tidus talks with Lulu and Auron, the decision of marrying Seymour is chosen by Yuna. Problem comes, though, when the guardians learn the reason why Yuna decided to do it.

With the events that happen with Seymour, Tidus and Yuna's relationship continues to grow stronger, especially when everyone travels to the Al Bhed home land. Yuna has been taken as a prisoner, so everyone decides to go in and save her. However, in the place that she is suppose to be, Yuna is not there. It is there that Tidus learns exactly what Yuna is doing and what it is for a summoner to be called a summoner. This scene along followed by quite a few more prove how much Tidus cares for Yuna. He will try anything now to keep her alive.

Even with the events, one scene alone proves the love for this couple. It happens after the group goes after Yuna. She is to marry Seymour and it happens. She was using marriage as a trick to send Seymour. However, the plan backfires after she learns the truth about Yevon. All Yuna and her guardians can do is escape now.

After arriving back in Macalania Woods, Tidus locates Yuna. In the lake, Tidus give the suggestion toYuna that she should quit her pilgrimage. He gives her ideas about travelling with him back to his Zanarkand. Yuna likes the idea. She even considers doing it. However, she knows that she cannot abandom her pilgrimage, that she cannot abandon Spira. There, Yuna breaks down and cries while Tidus comforts her. He brings her into his arms and kisses her, proving how much their relationship has changed.

Even with the trouble with Yevon, Yuna continues her pilgrimage with Tidus and her guardians by her side. When they finally reach Zanarkand, Tidus learns that he is only a dream of the Fayth, one that must finally fade away. After successufully defeating Sin without Yuna dying, Yuna learns about the fate for Tidus. She desperately tries to stop Tidus from disappearing by running into his arms, only to find that she goes right through him. It is there, when she stands up and tears in her eyes, that Yuna tells Tidus how she feels.

"I love you."

While Tears in his eyes and he fading away, Tidus walks up behind Yuna and holds, knowning that he can never be with the one that he loves. There he walks away, without looking back, and jumps off the ship, fading altogether.

Days later, Yuna tries whistling for Tidus. However, he doesn't come. She must try to live her life without him, but never forget him. In her speach, she reminds everyone about the memories that everyone has with one quote.

"Just, one more thing ... The people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded ... Never forget them."

Final Fantasy X-2

Final Fantasy X-2 doesn't contain Tidus quite much. However, the journey would have never been started if it wasn't for him. A sphere contains a man looking similar to Tidus. Farther in the story, Yuna and her group learn that it is not Tidus. However, that doesn't make Yuna stop. She falls within the Farplane and even jumps into the Farplane hearing whistles in the distance.

At the end of the game, if a perfect ending is received, Yuna will find Tidus at Besaid. She jumps from the ship and runs into his arms. She askes if he is alive and replies that he is. They hold each other for a while before being interupted by Wakka. Here, they are reunited, still as much in love as ever.
