Yuna is a young woman of seventeen. She lost her father early in her childhood causing her to be on her own. She is watched over by her guardians as she starts to become a summoner and defeat Sin for the people of Spira. Her summons are her strength, bringing great aeons to work at her side. She is also gifted with magic allowing her to aid her party.

When Sin is no longer around, Yuna returns back home only to receive a strange sphere that shows the man that she lost. Giving into the idea by Rikku, she takes on another journey to find why this man looks like Tidus. The journey becomes something quite different. A storyline soon follows, and she learns that the man in sphere is not Tidus but someone completely different.
